Marie E. Caltagerone, 81, passed away on January 4th, surrounded by family.
She was born in Rochelle, IL on July 26th, 1941, to Elmer (Sam) and Julia Esposito. She graduated from Rochelle High School and was employed as a typist and administrative assistant. She married Russell Caltagerone on October 1st, 1960, and they celebrated 43 years together. They had four children. Marie’s joy in life came from raising her family. She was a proud Catholic, Italian-American and enjoyed cooking. She especially enjoyed watching her children participate in football and basketball at Boylan High School. After raising her children, she returned to the work force until she retired after suffering a stroke. In her later years, she was a prominent fixture on the assisted living floor of the Luther Center, she enjoyed shopping, and loved her cat.
Marie will be deeply missed by her children, Phillip (MaryBeth), Mary Louise, Samuel (Dawn), and Joseph; and six grandchildren, Phillip, Jacob (Kelsey), Gracie Ann, Maxwell, Alison, and Mason.
Marie is survived by her three sisters, Gail Sarauer, Kay (Leon) Johnson, and Barbara “Kelly” Esposito and sister in-law Florence Callea.
Marie was predeceased by her husband, Russell; parents Sam and Julia, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Philip and Mary Caltagerone.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and doctors of the 4th floor heart hospital at Swedish American Hospital, for their kindness, care and compassion with Marie.
The visitation will be Tuesday, January 10th, 2023, from 9:30-11:00am at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00am. Burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
