Marian J. Frew

MARIAN JONES FREW – Marian Frances “Casey” Jones Frew, left us peacefully on May 5, 2016 after a brief illness. Born in Chicago, IL on August 2, 1925, Marian and her twin, Marshall, were blessed to have been adopted by Charles Avery and Edith Osborn Jones of Egan, IL where they grew up on a beautiful and successful dairy farm. Following graduation from Byron High School, Marian attended nurses training at the former Presbyterian Hospital in Chicago before marrying John Frew in Salina, KS on July 8, 1944 as he departed for WWII. During, and following her time as a military wife, Marian gave birth to 3 sons and a daughter; worked numerous volunteer, part time and full time positions at Rockford Memorial Hospital, Park Lanes and Stone Hydraulic Industries. At Stone Hydraulic, she was one of the original staff members, where she began as a secretary and progressed to retire from her role in international sales after 32 years. Marian was kind, thoughtful and attentive with a conviction for honesty and hard work. She loved her Chicago sports teams and was especially fond of Michael Jordan and the Bulls. Locally, Marian was involved with the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps and traveled with the corps extensively for many, many years – becoming a surrogate mother for corps members who lived with her during the summers when they were performing. After her children grew, Marian was able to travel extensively, including trips to England, France, Italy and Australia/New Zealand. 4’ 11” of spunk, spirit and vitality, Marian truly was loved by everyone who knew her. She made and maintained enduring friendships and would think nothing of going out of her way to help someone in need. Marian is survived by 1 brother, Richard Jones, 4 children: Stephen (Sherry) Frew, Jack (Wanda) Frew, Mick (Diane) Frew and Catherine (Russell) Jacobson. 11 Grand Children: Jordan (Sarah) Frew, Amy Frew, David Frew, Melissa (Brett) Hyrkas, Tara Frew, Nicholas (Jenny) Frew, Jeremy (Dani) Frew, Misty (Tim) Wideman, Andrew (Erin Clark) Jacobson, Christian Jacobson, Austin Jacobson. 12 great-grandchildren, 13 nieces and nephews - all of whom loved her dearly, and literally hundreds upon hundreds who will miss her forever. Predeceased by parents, brother, Marshall and nephew Daniel Jones. Memorial Service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church 412 North Church Street Rockford with interment at the church Garden of the Resurrection and luncheon following in the church reception hall.
