Marian Cecelia Sterling, 83, Rockford, died at 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, February 17, 2008, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, WI. Marian was born on December 3, 1924, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Dr. Harry and Marian Dooley. She married William E. Sterling on May 24, 1947, in River Forest, IL. Marian attended Holy Family Catholic Church and is a past member of the Cathedral of St. Peter. She was active in many community organizations. She was a member of the Rockford Junior League, a Pink Lady at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, served as an Extraordinary minister at St. Anne Center, was a member of St. Annes Society and was active in the womens auxiliary of the Rockford Symphony Orchestra. Survivors include her husband, William; children, Mary Kay (James) Seymour of Rockford, Thomas ""Tiffy"" Sterling of Beloit, WI. and Sally (Peter) Sterling-Brommelkamp of Machesney Park; granddaughter, Lora (fianca©, David Banks) Seward of Chicago; step-grandchildren, Jennifer, Sarah and James Seymour; sister, Kathryn (Dr. Paul) Dunn of Ferryville, WI. and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her son, William E. Sterling, Jr. and her parents. Marians family would like to thank Dr. Holden and Dr. Thukral at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center and Dr. Musat at University of Wisconsin Hospital as well as the nursing staff at both hospitals for their kind and loving care. Marian would like her family and friends to celebrate her life and not mourn her death. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10AM. Thursday, February 21, 2008, in the Cathedral of St. Peter, 1243 N. Church St., Rockford, IL 61103, with Rev. David Beauvais officiating. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, February 20, 2008, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61108 with the Rosary being recited at 6:45 PM. Memorials may be made to Goldie Floberg Center, 58 W. Rockton Rd., P.O.
