Maria Lopez

Maria E. Lopez, 81, of Rockford passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012 at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. Born in Laredo, Texas on July 22, 1930; the daughter of Frank Cortinez and Natividad Flores. Maria was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who always put others first. She enjoyed family get togethers, as well as bowling, bingo, car racing, wrestling and an occasional margarita. The Lopez family would like to give a special thank you to Maria's friend, Gene Schuur for his companionship and support. Maria is survived by her son, Marco (Hyejeong) Ochoa; grandchildren, Kasja, Tosha, Kristina and Minyoung; greatgrandchildren, KC and Greyson; brothers, Frank (Carmen) Cortinez, John (Lucy) Cortinez and Joe (Sharon) Cortinez; sister, Jessie (Armando) Cardenas; several nieces, nephews, cousins and her dog, Coco. Predeceased by sister, Shirley Zavala and 2 infant sons.Memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave.
