Maria Angileri, 99, of Rockford died Saturday, June 13, 2015 in her home. Born January 9, 1916 in Rockton the daughter of Antonino and Giovanna (Laudicina) Mannira. At the age of 2 Maria moved back to Marsala Sicily to be with family, married to her loving husband, Vito Angileri April 19, 1933 in Italy and returned to the United States in 1953. She worked for Nelson Knitting Company for over 10 years after staying home and caring for her 4 beautiful children. Maria was a faithful member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church for many years where she made several friends, she will be missed dearly. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Heartland Hospice for their supportive and compassionate care. Survivors include her children, Joe (Sharon) Angileri, Josephine Rosolia, Tony Angileri and Joann (Carl) Bertolino; 21 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 7 great great-grandchildren; sisters, Josephine Indelicato and Anna Parinello and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in October 1970, brother, daughter-in-law. Sharon, son-in-law, Gino and a grandchild.
Funeral Mass Thursday, June 18, 2015 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1010 Ferguson St. at 10:30 a.m. with visitation from 9 a.m. until time of Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial to the family. Extend online condolences at: www.fitzgeraldfh.com
