Margaret Teresa "Peggy" Dowell

Margaret Teresa (Peggy) Dowell, 88, of Rockford, IL, passed away Monday, November 22, 2021. She was born in Aurora, IL on December 2, 1932 to Henry ”Hank” Ludwig and Ruth Ethel (Fauth) Konrad.

Margaret married Richard Keith Dowell on November 30, 1951 and had a joyous and loving marriage of 53 years until his passing in 2004. She was a member of Morning Star Church of Rockford, IL at the time of her passing. Margaret was always very active in church activities, volunteer groups, and bible studies. She loved to sing and to share her beautiful voice in church choirs. Margaret enjoyed gardening and then canning and preserving those fruits and vegetables to be shared with her family and friends. Margaret also like to draw pictures and write stories and loved to go “garaging” as often as possible. She will hold a special place in the hearts of all who knew her.

Margaret is survived by her children, Pamela Jean (Herb) Allen and Kenneth Hale (Krista) Dowell; grandchildren, Brian (Kris) Granville, Tim Granville, Eli (Rebekah) Dowell, Rachel (Kevin) Kachigian, Julio Tercaro; great grandchildren, Joshua, Joel, Ethan, Seth, Lucas, Corban, Anna, Grant, Isaac, Micah, Aaron and Eden; siblings, Marian Okrie, Jean Mildred Hill, Jack Kenneth Konrad, Tommie Joe (Hendra) Konrad and Ruth Ethel (Jerry) Lawyer; sister-in -law, Sylvia Konrad, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and very special friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Richard; parents; infant brother, Matthew Henry Konrad, brothers, Robert Henry Konrad and James Edmond Konrad; sisters and brothers in law, Betty Ruth (Ralph) Metzger, Nancilee Marie (Bill) VanBuskirk and Doris Jean (Dowell) (Ed) Ryan; brothers in law, Bob Okrie and Bob Hill; and sister-in-law, Yoshi Konrad; grandchildren Douglas, Genevieve, and John Allen.

A funeral service will be on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61108, officiated by Reverend Doctor Herbert F. Allen III at 10:30 a.m. with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Our guest preacher is Margaret’s grandson, Chaplain, Major Eli Dowell, USAF. A light luncheon will be available at Mauh Nah Tee See Country Club immediately following the service. Interment will be at Lincoln Memorial Park in Aurora, IL. Those in attendance for any of the services will be required to wear masks and social distance. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Margaret’s name to The Haven Network.
