Margaret “Peggy” Mary Gorkowski, 69, Rockford, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018, at the Atrium on McFarland. She was born December 29, 1948, in Monroe, WI, the daughter of Donald “Mack” and Anna (Crotty) McDonald. She was a graduate of Muldoon Catholic High School in the class of 1966. Peggy married Michael Gorkowski in Rockford. He passed away in 1986. Peggy owned and operated the Donut King in Rockford and later worked at Chrysler Corporation in Belvidere where she served on numerous boards and action committees representing members of UAW Local #1268. She was an avid Packer fan. Peggy was the Matriarch of her Rockford family and instilled a great work ethic in her family.
Survived by her sons, Craig (Lindsey) Gorkowski and Kristin Gorkowski, both of Rockford; her grandson, Kaden Gorkowski; her siblings, Patricia Hagar of Rockford, Michael McDonald of KY, and Pamela (Russell) Wenz of TN; several loving nieces and nephews and a soon to be born great nephew. Predeceased by her husband, Michael and her parents.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, September 15, 2018, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Av. Loves Park. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until time of service on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a trust fund for her son Kristin.
