Margaret M. Shappert

It is with deep sadness that the children of Margaret Wiseman Shappert, age 90, announce the passing of their mother on November 15, 2021 in Rockford, IL.
“Margie” as she was known to her friends and loved ones, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her greatest joys were derived from her devotion to her family, her friends, and to her Christian faith.
Born Margaret Mae Wiseman on May 1, 1931, in Janesville, WI, she was the second daughter of Alice and John Wesley Wiseman and the sister of Betsy Wiseman Overton. Margie grew up in Janesville and attended the University of Wisconsin—Madison, where she met her husband of nearly 68 years, Frank Moran Shappert of Belvidere, IL.
Margie and Frank were married on December 28, 1954. Together they raised three devoted children in Belvidere, IL and contributed mightily to their community and church. Margie will be remembered for what she cherished most: her family, her faith, and her home. A woman of tremendous energy and artistic talent, she pursued a successful career as an interior decorator once her children were raised and grown. She was also known for her extraordinary needlepoint designs, her gracious hospitality, and her generous spirit. Her family will deeply miss Margie’s vitality, wonderful sense of humor, and indominable energy.
Margie Shappert is survived by her husband Frank; her children Gretchen Shappert, Betsy (James) Easton, and Fred Shappert; her grandchildren Charles (Jennifer) McBride, Reed (Jennifer) McBride, Emily (Justin) Kellenberger, Alexander (Madeline) Easton, Scott Shappert, and Sarah (Luke) Corsiglia, and by 8 great- grandchildren: Hudson, Holly, & Maverick McBride; Will, Kara, & Owen McBride; and Coral & Elliott Kellenberger.
Arrangements for a Memorial Service to honor Margie’s life will be scheduled for a future date by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory of Rockford, IL. Memorials may be made in Margie's name to Rockford Rescue Mission or Rockford Crisis Pregnancy Center.
