Margaret I. Lofgren

MARGARET I. LOFGREN, 85, LOVING MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER, SISTER, AUNT Margaret I. Lofgren passed away on October 3, 2011, at Swedish American Hospital following a brief illness. A lifelong resident of the Rockford area, Margaret was born April 14, 1926, to Joseph Cornelius and Hazel Mary (Almond) Verstynen. Margaret graduated from West High School in 1944. On May 7, 1948 Margaret married Robert Lofgren. They had two children, son Robert "Craig" and Jodell.In 1988, Margaret retired from Woodward Governor where she had worked as a purchasing secretary for 26 years. In her spare time, Margaret enjoyed compiling family history information and working on genealogy. Additionally, she contributed time to volunteering at Midway Village once a week for 20+ years. Margaret was a kind and loving person, who cared deeply for her family and friends. She will be greatly missed but fondly remembered by those whose lives she touched. She is survived by son Robert "Craig" (Sue) Lofgren;her daughter Jodell "Jode" (Martin) Gabriel;brother Clinton (Janet) Verstynen; beloved grandchildren Samantha, Bob, Jon, and Carolina; many beloved nieces and nephews and special friends, Aylene, Amy and Sandy. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; sister, Alice Peper; and brothers, Charles and Daniel Verstynen. A memorial service will be held at 2pm, Sunday, October 9 th at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Avenue, Rockford, IL 61103, with a visitation from 1 p.m. until time of the service. In lieu of flowers donations can be given to Midway Village.
