Marcia Schroeder Halvorson

Marcia Schroeder Halvorson, 89, of Rockford passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at Wesley Willows. She was born December 21, 1926 in Boone, Iowa. She was the daughter of Dr. Clarence and Alma Brunk. Marcia married Dr. Maurice “Bud” Schroeder in Rockford on July 1, 1948; he predeceased her on August 6, 1975. She then married Dr. Raymond Halvorson in Rockford on September 15, 1979. He predeceased her on March 3, 2007. Marcia possessed poise and grace in her lifetime, where it was captured for us throughout her modeling career, and now forever in her soul. She graduated from East High School, Class of 1944. She attended the University of Michigan where she was a sister of Kappa Kappa Gamma while pursuing studies as an avid music major. Her voice was lent to choirs, weddings, and talent shows. She had a passion for music and enjoyed singing in the St. Bernadette choir, St. James choir, and the Bards of Wesley Willows. When she was not in Rockford, she made a home in Naples, Fl. There she enjoyed golf, receiving the first hole-in-one at a local course. Marcia also enjoyed traveling, gardening, and beautiful flowers. Spending time with her grandchildren was her pride and joy. Survivors include her children, Jeffrey Schroeder, Cathryn (John) Milani and Julie (Kent) Conwell. Grandchildren, Ryan and Breanna Schroeder, Melanie and Natalie Schroeder, Nicole and Matthew Milani, Alexander and Hannah Conwell. Predeceased by her parents, husband Maurice Schroeder, son Mark Schroeder, daughter-in-law Carolyn Schroeder, and husband Raymond Halvorson.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at St. James Church, 428 N. 2nd Street with Father David Beauvais officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation from 9 until 9:45 a.m. Tuesday in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to be established by the family. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home Riverside Chapel.
