Lyle C. Lathrop, 95 of Rockford, died Friday, June 6, 2008 at Wesley Willows. Born January 9, 1913 in Elgin, the son of Arthur and Elizabeth (Movitz) Lathrop. Retired in 1973 after working for over 20 years as a tool and die maker at Atwood Industries. Lyle was a jack of all trades and was so inventive he would find a way to fix any problem. He was a kind, caring and patient man who truly loved spending time with family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff on E Wing at Wesley Willows and Heartland Hospice. Survivors include his loving wife Britomar Handlon-Lathrop of Rockford; children, Judy (Rod) Groves of NM, Tom (Johanna Beyers) Lathrop of Canada, Janet (Chuck) Fischer of GA and Zena (Neil Johnson) Handlon of Chicago; grandchildren, Keith, Sharon, Ellie, Arthur, Zack , Tegan, Chad, Adina, Ally, Peyton, Jessica and Robin; great grandchildren, Hannah, Abby, Andrew, Kyle and Kandler. He was preceded in death by his parents and 9 year old brother Raymond and infant sister, Olive. Memorial Service Monday, July 7, 2008 at Wesley Willows, 4141 N. Rockton Ave. at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. William R. Kerr Sr. officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials to Wesley Willows Good Samaritan Fund. Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory assisted the family.
