Lydia G. Rios

Lydia G. Rios, 79, of Rockford, IL died on August 13, 2022.

She was born on June 18, 1943 in San Benito, Texas to Manuel and Olga Gonzalez. She was married at a young age to Ramon Rios on February 20,1959. She was a loving and supportive stay-at-home mother of five children, whom she adored greatly; they meant the world to her, and she proved that each day through her actions. In her last few years, Lydia was committed to her health. She loved her Fitbit, and participated in Fitbit competitions with her family members; no one had a chance with her. She knew how to move her wrist like there was no tomorrow. Additionally, Lydia was an avid dancer and loved her Tejano music. Her laughter always brightened up the room and heightened the energy at any party. Her spitfire attitude will surely be missed, but the females in her life will ensure they carry on that tradition for her.

She is survived by her 5 children, Maria (Eduardo) Flores, Delia Rios, Ramon Rios Jr., Ernesto (Jeanne) Rios, and Daniel Rios; grandchildren, Lydia (Matthew) Lindsoe, Mario (Daniela) Jimenez, Jackie (Matthew) Legue, Sara (Leonel) Arroyo, Jorge (Margaret) Alejandre, Alex (Khristine) Alejandre, Lynette Araujo, William (Metzin) Rios, Nina Rios, Olivia Rios, Ricky Rios, and Angelica Rios; siblings, Manuel (Juanita), David (Carlotta) Raul, Delia (Frank) and Irma. Numerous great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Ramon.

Visitation will be from 10-11 am on August 19th at St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Drive, Rockford, IL. The funeral Mass will promptly start at 11:00 am in St. Rita Catholic Church. Burial will conclude after Mass at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Please join the family at Gomez Restaurant at 119 S State St. Belvidere for a light luncheon.
