Lucien R. Lon Sicotte, 77, of Rockford, was called to his heavenly home Saturday, February 21, 2009. Born September 18, 1931, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, the son of Lucien J. and Lydia (Riendeau) Sicotte. When Lon was five, his family moved to Rockford, where he attended St. James Elementary School and St. Thomas High School graduating in 1949. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Following his service, Lon attended Northern Illinois University, where he was a member of the golf team. Lon married Marion Cazzaniga in Rockford on May 17, 1958 and from that union, three children were born. Lon worked hard to provide for his family at Rock Valley Distributing and Lorden Distributing retiring in 1994. He was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church and his faith was always a strong part of his life. He will fondly be remembered for his love of golf, playing cards, cribbage, and cheering for the Packers and Boylan Titans. The laughter that he brought to his family and friends will be dearly missed, but always remembered. Survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Marion; children, Charles Charlie (Shaun) Sicotte, Rockford, Merri Jo (David) Guggenbuehl, LaCrosse, WI, and Anne (John) Ciaccio, Rockford; grandchildren, Nicole and Zack Sicotte, Andrea, Nicholas, and Michael Guggenbuehl, Jacob and Brianna Ciaccio; brothers, Albert (Marlyn) Sicotte, Rockford, Paul (Joanne) Sicotte, Ocala, FL, George (Jean) Sicotte, Machesney Park; sisters, Diane Didier and Jeannine (Stephen) King, both of Rockford, mother-in-law, Josephine Cazzaniga, sister-in-law, Mary Ann Pettenger and brother-in-law, Charles (Mary) Cazzaniga; nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by parents, brother, Charles in infancy, father-in-law, Carlo Cazzaniga, granddaughter, Christina Sicotte, and brothers-in-law, Robert Pettenger and Larry Didier. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 28, 2009, in Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd., Rockford, IL 61107 with Msgr. Thomas Bales officiating. Visitation from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm Friday, February 27, 2009, in Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108 with the Rosary recited at 7:15 pm. and from 10 - 10:45am on Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to the family to be divided among the charities he loved.
