Louise C. Rodriguez

Louise “Weezie” C. Rodriguez, 86, of Rockford, passed away on April 1, 2025. She was born on January 8, 1939, in Rockford, the daughter of Owen and Julia (Troska) Forbes. She attended Loyola University for 1 year and earned her Bachelor of Science degree at St. Francis College and worked as a medical technologist at OSF St. Anthony Hospital for 50+ years. She married Joseph “Joe” Rodriguez on September 16, 1961, at St. Mary’s Church and together had a loving 55 years of marriage. She was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Church for 80 years and recently of Cathedral of St. Peter. She was involved with the Catholic Women’s League, Women’s Auxiliary, and the sewing/quilting guild. Weezie enjoyed bowling, gardening, sewing, and embroidery. She was an avid baker; known for her cookies, bread, brownies, cakes, apple crunch and much more. She was a loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs and kept stats for each game played and enjoyed traveling to spring training every year.

She is survived by her children, Josie Rodriguez Becker, Andy (Tami) Rodriguez, Lou (Sophie) Rodriguez, Danny (Marina) Rodriguez, John (Erin) Rodriguez, and Tom (Robin Rush) Rodriguez; grandchildren, Zach, Zandra, Leah, Chelsea, Brittney, Dana, Trevor, Miranda, Jaxon, and Addison; great grandchildren, Leilani, Skylah, and one on the way, Levi; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Owen and Julia; husband, Joe; and 5 siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Peter, 1243 N Church St, Rockford, IL 61103, with a brief visitation before Mass at 10:00 a.m. A Night Before Visitation will be on Sunday, April 6, 2025, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., with a Rosary will be at 2:45 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 3910 N. Rockton Road, Rockford, IL 61103. Burial will be in Willowbrook Cemetery in Roscoe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Catholic Charities.
