Louis N. Adami

Louis N. Adami, 76, lifelong Rockford resident, died at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009 in Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born October 7, 1932, son of Carlo F. and Laura A. Maraviglia Adami. Married Deonne E. Blair in St. James Catholic Church in Rockford on November 27, 1954. Graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1951 and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Rockford College in 1972. He was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church and was a 3rd degree member of Knights of Columbus Muldoon Council 470. Retired in 1985 after 31 years of employment with the Gunite Division of Kelsey-Hayes. Following retirement, he was a substitute teacher in the Harlem School District for 17 years. He was a member of the UAW and had served as secretary for the Gunite Retirees Organization. Louis loved all sports and was especially an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.
Survivors include his wife, Deonne; children, Frederick Fred Adami, Machesney Park, Blair (Katie) Adami, Rockton, Jeffery Jeff (Mary) Adami, Loves Park, Gary (Tina) Adami, Rockford, Ellyn (Arnulfo) Manzo, Mesa, AZ, and Robert Rob Adami, Machesney Park; grandchildren, Nicholas, Laura, Aaron, Nicole, Amanda, Marissa, Justine, Andrew, Zoraya, Sergio, Nadia, Mario, Shannon, Corey and Tobias; step-grandchildren, Nichole and Nathan and a great-granddaughter. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including his special niece, Loretta Bobzien and his very special friend, QE III. Predeceased by his parents, brother, Caesar and sisters, Aurelia Prenner, Sylvia Bartolomei, Dahlia Zavagli and Lucy DeLong.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009 in St. Bridget Catholic Church with Rev. Brian Olsen officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday in Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. Visitation also from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be made to the St. Bridget Church Leaky Roof Fund.
