Louis "Louie" Zammuto

Louis J. "Louie" Zammuto was called to his heavenly reward quietly and peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2014. He was born in Rockford, IL on June 14, 1940 the son of Joseph and Susie (Collura) Zammuto. He lived his entire life in Rockford, but wintered in Lake Worth, Florida for 20 years. A graduate of West High School class of 1960. Louie was an avid Green Bay Packer fan whose high point each week of the football season was to watch them play. Louie was a life-long member of St. Anthony Church and was a member of the Holy Name Society. His faith allowed him to face a life challenged by physical disability with great courage and acceptance. He was a wonderful role model for anyone facing adversity. He accepted each new obstacle with a smile and good humor, never complaining or feeling sorry for himself. He loved Cadillac's and Bing Crosby and he was a kind, gentle soul who loved and cared for everyone, he will be missed dearly by all.
Survivors include his sister, Angelina (Jim) Jodie of WI; sister-in-law, Carmella Licari Zammuto of Rockford; nieces and nephews, Susan (Joseph) Castrogiovanni of Rockford, Dr. Joseph (Bekki) Zammuto of Roscoe, Mary (Wayne) Nelson of S. Beloit, Frank Zammuto of Rockford, Susan Zankovich of WI, Marianne (Charles) Grote of New Mexico, Catherine (Steven) Aronin of WI and James (Erin) Jodie Jr of WI; 9 great nieces and nephews and 3 great –great nieces and nephew; cousins, Rosemary Zammuto, Dr. Joseph (Tess) Zammuto, Therese (Donald) Kueng, Jo (Chester) Zeppieri and Fran Nelson. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Peter J. Zammuto.
Funeral Mass Monday, January 20, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church with visitation from 9:30 until time of prayer at 10:45 a.m. Interment will be held privately in St. Mary/St. James Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials to: Presence Cor Mariae, 3330 Maria Linden Dr. Rockford, IL 61114. Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel assisted the family.
