Lothar Grade, 85, Rockford, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2012. He was born on May 27, 1927 in Kslin, Germany; son of Benno and Gertrud (Finger) Grade. Lothar immigrated to the United States in 1951 and first lived in Milwaukee.nbsp; He married Edith Borths on February 28, 1953.nbsp; In 1961, Lothar moved his family to Rockford and founded Northern Prosthetics and Orthopedic Company with his dear friend Herbert Schulze.nbsp; Lothar was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, enjoyed golfing, oil painting, travelling, playing chess and had a passion for classical music.nbsp; He will be remembered as a wonderful family man and compassionate member of the community.
Survived by his wife, Edith; son, Hans (Marsha) Grade; daughters, Susan (George) Briest and Heidi (Jay) Radke; grandsons, Max, Noah, and Ryan; and the Maul family in Germany. Predeceased by parents, sister, Irma Skibbe, and brotherinlaw, Karl Skibbe.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2012 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road in Rockford. Visitation from 5:00 7:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery.
