Lori Kay Jacobson (Schwanebeck) passed away on December 27, 2018 at Swedish American Hospital with her family by her side. She was born on July 21, 1956 to Theodore and Loretta Schwanebeck and spent her years growing up in Rockford, where she graduated from East High School in 1974. During those years, she befriended Sheila St. Vincent (Rubly) and Renee Craglow (Foster). They quickly became best friends and supported each other throughout their lives. Lori married Kim Jacobson on August 25th, 1979 in Rockford, where they stayed to remain close to family and raise their three boys. Lori loved making crafts, sewing, crocheting, spending time with her boys, and helping to babysit her nieces, nephew, and granddaughters.
Lori battled ovarian cancer for the last six years of her life. Even from the first mention of cancer, Lori did not waiver in the notion that she would fight and stay hopeful. Throughout her time in the hospital and chemo treatments, Lori always remained optimistic and was helped to take her mind off of what was going on thanks to Sheila and Loretta's craft time. Lori gained many friends through her diagnosis and would correspond with them via Facebook or handwritten letters to let them know that she was praying for them and to never give up. Ultimately, Lori's cancer spread and was too far along to stop.
The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support including her many friends, family members, care takers, as well as her cancer support group (who are referred to as her teal sisters) for their love and support throughout the years.
Survived by her loving husband, Kim; children Chad (wife Gina), Erik (wife Elin) and Ryan; grandchildren Demi and Harper; brother Brett (wife Shana); nieces and nephew Isabella, Jaxson, and Makenah; mother Loretta (husband Harold) as well as numerous other relatives. She is predeceased by her father Theodore.
