Lori Joann Mueller

Lori JoAnn Mueller, 50, Loves Park, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 11, 1965, in Rockford, the daughter of Arley and Joann Hendrickson. Lori married Dr. John H. Mueller in Rockford on June 18, 1994. She was a social worker for Children’s Home and Aid Society involved mostly in adoptions. Lori was an active member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd where she was involved in many areas. She volunteered with Rockford Area Lutheran Ministries from 2001 thru 2010 and served as vice president from 2005 thru 2006 and as president from 2007 thru 2010. During that time Becca’s Closet was added to their ministries. Lori was a 1983 graduate of Guilford High School and finished her undergraduate degree from Carthage College in 1987, continuing on for her MSW from the University of Minnesota. One of Lori’s greatest passions is Katie’s Cup Coffeebar, a place of coffee, conversation, and community, located at 502 7th St. Rockford, She was instrumental in its development, and has been Vice President of Seventh Street Coffee, Inc. which owns this non-profit, from July 2012-present. She would welcome you to this special place. Special thanks to the physicians, nurses, and staff at OSF Rock Cut, OSF Cancer Center, 4 West, OSF Hospice Care, and the many loving friends, especially Rita Huwe for their kind and compassionate care.
Survived by her loving husband, John; her daughters, Jana and Leah Mueller; her parents, Arley and Joann Hendrickson; her brother, Ron Hendrickson, her mother-in-law Miriam Mueller; her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Martha Mueller, Rev. Dr. Steven (Nina) Mueller, and Sarah (Dr. Dan) Manzanares. Predeceased by her infant brother, Larry and her father-in-law, Roland Mueller.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 14, 2016, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1829 N. Rockton Av with Reverend Eric Lemonholm officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, and from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. on Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to the church or to Katie’s Cup Coffebar. 24 hour security has been provided to the family home.
