Lois Jean Grueneberg

Lois Jean Grueneberg, 69, Rockford, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017, in her home following a short battle with cancer. She was born April 18, 1947, in Portage, WI, the daughter of Harold and Irma (Nehls) Lochner. Lois was a graduate of Portage High School. She married Harry Grueneberg on May 20, 1967. Lois had worked for Commercial Mortgage and Finance, and then for the Weller agency. Her career took her through positions as an executive secretary for Marsh and McLennan Agency, the Amcore Insurance Group, the Camlin Insurance Agency, and she finished her career with the Williams Manny Agency as an account executive. She was a longtime member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. Lois was a member of Al-Anon for more than 16 years and was a member of the Basket Guild. Lois was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, enjoyed fishing and traveling and she loved spending time with her family. Survived by her loving husband of nearly 50 years, Harry; her sons, Tim of Rockford and Scott (Nicole) Grueneberg of Aurora; 2 granddaughters, Lexi and Maddie; her sisters, Diane Albrecht of Rockford and Cheryl Lyons of Pickney, MI; her brothers, Harold (Brenda) Lochner of Springfield, MO and Craig (Anita) Lochner of Boise, Idaho. Predeceased by her parents and her brothers-in-law, Vern Albrecht and Larry Lyons.
A Celebration service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 2715 S. Mulford Rd. with Reverend Scott Benolkin officiating. Burial in Willwood Burial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Monday, January 30, 2017, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford with a time of sharing at 7:00 P.M. There will also be a visitation for 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. on Tuesday at the church.
