Lois C. Hoglund

Lois C. Hoglund, 69, lifelong Rockford resident, died suddenly at 5:50 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2008 in her home.  Born March 25, 1938, daughter of Louis Beckman and Alma Olson Beckman.  Graduated from East High School in 1956 where she was a member of the National Honor Society, the Homecoming Court and enjoyed playing softball.  Married her high school sweetheart, Gene Hoglund in Rockford on April 20, 1957.  She had been employed by the Rockford School District in Food Service for several years.  Lois had been an active lifetime member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Elizabeth Circle and sang in the choir.  In 1998 she became a member of Heartland Community Church and participated in Growth Groups and the Kidstuf Drama Team.  She was also a member and leader of the Rockford Bible Study Fellowship.  She loved her church and enjoyed golf, traveling and  family vacations. Her family was always the most important thing in her life and she was a very loving and supportive parent and grandparent.    Survivors include her husband, Gene; children, Mike (Pam) Hoglund, Rockford, Cindy (Greg) Walters, Spring Grove, Randy (Cindy) Hoglund, Roscoe, Valerie Hoglund, Rockford and Brad (Sonia) Hoglund, Cherry Valley; grandchildren, Elissa, Lindsey, Eric, Max, Adam, Madison, Matthew, Scott and Shawn.  Also survived by her great-grandchildren, Mason and Jackson; sister, Lorraine (Bill) Karolus, Stoughton, WI, and many nieces, nephews and cousins, including her special cousin, Marion Scott.  Predeceased by her parents, grandson, Alex Dutenhafer and brother-in-law, Dave Hoglund.   Funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2008 in Heartland Community Church with Pastor Doug Thiesen officiating.  Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Friday in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. and from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. Saturday in the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.  Condolences may be extended at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
