Linda K. Grubb

Surrounded by family, Linda Grubb, 83, found eternal peace on January 19, 2025 at Angels Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc, WI. 

Born on July 25, 1941, in Kankakee, Illinois to R. Alvin and Virginia (Waitekunas) Hinze, Linda grew up in Rockford, attending Muldoon High School and St. Anthony School of Nursing. She married her beloved Gordy on January 1, 1977, sharing 39 years devoted to each other, their faith, and their blended families. 

Her deep spiritual faith was the cornerstone of her life and it guided all her decisions and actions. She taught those around her the power of grace, humility, hard work, and love. A woman of exceptional compassion and kindness, Linda shared her gifts throughout her 45-year nursing career and her lifelong service to the church. She worked at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Rockford Memorial Hospital and OSF Healthcare System. Linda and Gordy shared their faith through service at St. Patrick and St. Rita Catholic Churches. They completed the Diocesan Ministry Formation training to work with the sick, elderly, and homebound and were Eucharistic Ministers for many years, along with countless other volunteer activities through the church. 

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Gordy; her sons Joe and David Grubb; her daughter-in-law, Lizandra; and her siblings Sandy Newman and Rich Hinze.

Linda’s loving spirit, caring nature, family meals, and keen sense of humor will be missed by all, especially her children Diana Grubb, Denise Nesmith (Tanner), Mike Daly (Kathy), Ann Witte (Matt), Tim Daly (Tricia), Leslie Johnson (Doug); her 16 grandchildren; her 13 great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Sally Richter; loved ones, Wendy Daly, Tina Grubb; and a large, cherished band of family and friends.

A visitation will be held at Fitzgerald Funeral Home – Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61108 on Tuesday, January 28th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until the start of funeral Mass at 11:00 at St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Dr, Rockford, IL 61109 on Wednesday, January 29th, 2025.
