Lina Hong

Lina Hong, 93, of Rockford. Died Tuesday, July 21, 2020 surrounded by her loving family at home. She was born December 14, 1926, in Tainan, Taiwan, the daughter of Shi Da Pau and Shi (Tsai) Kwan.

Lina was warm and generous to everyone she met. She enjoyed attending church with her family. She was a masterful cook, her family and friends enjoyed many special dishes at family gatherings and holidays. Lina’s recipes were exquisite and irreplaceable, just like her. In her spare time, Lina loved spending time with her grandchildren and crocheting. Lina loved to dance and had an indomitable spirit. Fiercely passionate about her love of family and friends, full of “generosity!”

Lina is survived by her children, Sachi (Stan) Brzazgon and Gene (Valerie) Hong; grandchildren, Maria (Dave Goodman) Brzazgon, Dmitri (Jeanette) Brzazgon, Andrei (Ewa) Brzazgon, Deidra Hong and Carrington Hong; great-grandchildren, Anna Iwanciw, Francheska Brzazgon, Anthony Brzazgon, and Krystyna Brzazgon, and several nieces and nephews in Taiwan and the United States. Predeceased by her parents; husband, Hong Sun Yi and two sisters.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory- Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd, Rockford, IL 61108, with Rev. William Wentink officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Inurnment to follow at Highland Garden of Memories in Belvidere, IL. Those in attendance for any of the services will be required to wear masks and social distance.
