Lewis C. Hinde

Lewis C. Hinde, 83, lifetime Rockford resident, died at 4:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2010 in his home. Born March 17, 1926, son of Harry and Harriet Clark Hinde. Served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Married Dorothy A. Harmacinski on May 30, 1959. He retired from Sundstrand Corp. in 1991 where he had been employed for many years.
Lewis was a member of Rockford Masonic Lodge No.102 and Scottish Rite Lodge Council Chapter Consistory. He had a great enjoyment for life and appreciated good food. He also had a great appreciation for nature, liked to fish and loved gardening, especially growing roses.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; daughters, Judy (Dave) Young, Nancy (Frank Rothgeb) Hinde and Patti (Rich) Buelte; grandchildren, Rebekah, Paul, Megan and Natalie and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 25, 2010 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. with Rev. Randy Young officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Good Samaritan Fund at Wesley Willows Retirement Home.
