Lester A. Anderson, Jr., 91, of Rockford, IL passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022. He was born April 21, 1930 in Beloit, WI the son to Magdalene (Loughan) and Lester A. Anderson, Sr. Lester attended St. Thomas Catholic High School graduating in 1948. Lester proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army. He married the love of his life, Julia Eytalis on September 22, 1956. They went on to have six children. Lester worked for more than thirty five years for the City of Rockford as a traffic engineer. He was a devout member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and St. Bridget Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and The Holy Name Society. Lester was a quiet, gentle soul that would lend anyone a hand. He was a “do it yourself” kind of guy and maintained a beautiful garden which brought him great pride. Lester was a Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed hiking with the kids in their younger years, fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed the Army reunions and traveling to different cities. He will forever be in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish Lester’s memory are his beloved wife, Julia; children, Steve (Nancy) Anderson, Reverend Kenneth Anderson, Tom (Julie) Anderson, Kathy (Jeff) Lentz, Joan (Mike) Roush, John (Patricia) Anderson; grandchildren, Justin Roush, Zach (Hannah) Lentz, Megan Roush, Ben (Niccole) Anderson, Becca Roush, Amanda Lentz, Rachel Roush and 2 expectant great grandchildren; siblings, Jeanne Wooley, Dolores (Dick) Bruschi, Jerry (Judy) Anderson, Alice King; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, brothers-in-law, Tom Wooley, Frank Eytalis, and Anthony Eytalis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, February 18, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave, Loves Park, IL. Visitation held prior to Mass from 9:00 – 11:00 at the church. Burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lester’s name to the following; St. Bridget Catholic Church, St. Patrick Catholic Church or Boylan Catholic High School.
