Leonard "Len" John Schneeberger Iii

September 3, 1951 — February 20, 2021

Leonard (Len) John Schneeberger III, of Roscoe, IL passed away on February 20, 2021 at UW Health University Hospital.
Len was born on September 3, 1951 in Milwaukee, WI. He grew up in Rockford, IL where he graduated from Boylan High School, Class of 1969; and from the University of Northern Illinois with a Bachelor’s of Science.
Len enjoyed his long career at Sundstrand Corporation which afforded him many opportunities to travel the world and make hundreds of friends and colleagues, including meeting his wife of nearly 35 years, Barb. In the years at Sundstrand, Len was involved in many business associations, received numerous awards and accolades, and most infamously was one of the original founders of the Sundstrand Men’s Gold League – The Duffers – who still golf every week 46 years later. Len retired in 2013.
“Dad’ to Len IV and Jessie, and “Papa” to his five grandchildren: Lenny V (25), Dylan (18), Jackson (17), AJ (14) and Addie (11), were two of his favorite roles in life; and he excelled at both! The time he spent with Len and Jessie as they were growing up was precious and he always made the best of their camping trips, adventures to Great America, Brewers games, resorts trips to Wisconsin, and concerts at Summer Fest. As a Papa, he spoiled the grandkids. Their favorite memories of Papa include his trips to Colorado to take them golfing, carve pumpkins, watch their sporting events, trips to Sam’s No.3 for breakfast burritos, and ATV adventured in the mountains. And Papa was always up for taking any grandkid out for ice cream!
As the oldest of seven children, Len became the patriarch of the family when his father passed away. He was the go-to for all his siblings for advice, leadership and any help they needed. His brothers, Steve and Jeff were his best friends. They has the same sense of humor, interest in golf and a love of all things sports.
Barb and Len would have celebrated their 35th anniversary this September. She was the love of his life and they enjoyed life to the fullest. Len did not sit still very long. He loved to travel the world, attend concerts, cheer for every Wisconsin sports team, golf, work in the yard, meet friends for Taco Tuesdays, participate in Fantasy Sports Leagues, and when he got tired, take naps in his recliner with his dog, Rusty.
Len was taken from his family and friends far too early. He had plans for more travel, more concerts, and more time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Schneeberger (Bartosiewicz); mother, Mary Ann (Fitzgerald) Schneeberger, children, Leonard J. Schneeberger IV, Jessica (Doug) Adams; grandchildren, Leonard J Schneeberger V, Dylan Schneeberger, Jackson Adams, AJ Adams, Addison Adams; brother, Steve (Gina) Schneeberger, Jeff Schneeberger; sisters, Mary Kay (Steve) Merema, Lissa (Wiesiek) Lazarz, Maggie (John) Vant and several nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his father, Leonard J. Schneeberger Jr. and sister, Terri Schneeberger. The family held a private service this week, but will announce a future date for a Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family through Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral Arrangements entrusted by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 South Mulford Rd.
