Beloved husband, loving dad, and caring grandpa “G-pa”
Leonard G. Hunter, 74, of Rockford, went to be with Jesus on January 15, 2020. He was born on September 10, 1945, in Knoxville, TN. Leonard was a devoted son to Ether and Gracie Hunter and a faithful and loving husband to Linda Hunter. They met and fell in love two days after Christmas in 1968, and married on February 8, 1969. They were blessed with a wonderful marriage for 35 years. Leonard was a supportive and loving dad. He was especially loved by all his family friends, and family in Christ. He will always be remembered for his selfless devotion as he filled many “jobs” as son, husband, dad, grandpa, friend, church member, Godfather, mentor, and singer. Survivors include his daughter, Jeanne Hunter and his son, Victor (Tammy) Hunter, all of Rockford; his grandchildren, William Whiteside III, Joshua Hunter and Katelin Rose Whiteside; his sister, Martha Arwood, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him and will miss him greatly. Predeceased by his loving wife, Linda on November 2, 2004, his parents, and his siblings, Marie, Ruth, Walter, James, Charlie, David, and Margaret Hunter.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, Victory Baptist Church, 7028 Rydberg Rd. with Pastor Albert Bugbee officiating. Interment in New Milford Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Monday, January 20, 2020, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. and from 10:00 A.M. until time of service on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family. Share online condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com
