Leo Casteel

Leo Casteel, 78, Rockford, passed away peacefully in his daughter's home on Tuesday, October 8, 2013. He was born July 1, 1935, in Eldridge, Tennessee, the son of James H. and Daisy L. (Cox) Casteel. Leo was a veteran serving in the Army from 1957 until 1962. He married Joan Casteel on December 22, 1984. She passed away in June of 2010. Leo worked at Chrysler Corporation as a welder for many years, retiring in October, 2002. He was a member of UAW Local #1268, the Loyal Order of the Moose, and the VFW, Ross-Pearson Post #5149. Leo was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed tinkering on anything mechanical. He was a bartender at the Old Still for many years.
Survived by his step-daughter, Patricia Ward of Beloit; his step-son Dale (Beverly) Rollins of Machesney Park; his daughters, Mary (Marty) Hight, Annetta Hall, Pam Hall, and Sheila Jones, all of Columbus, Tennesee; his brother, James David "JD" Casteel and his sister, Mary Eloise Campbell, both of Tennessee; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents and his brother, Otis Casteel.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, October 14, 2013, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Av. Burial in New Milford Cemetery.
