Leonard E. Lenny Guido Guirlando died after a sudden illness Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born December 21, 1948 the son of Jasper Jay and Lena (Serafina) Guirlando.
Served in the United States Army and married his loving wife Therese Terry Henneberry on July 8, 1972 at St. James, Belvidere. Lenny was currently employed in the machinist maintenance department for 15 years at Mylan Institutional.
A member of St. James Catholic Church, Rockford and a life time member of the LLL Club. nbsp;He was the sweetest, most caring, gentle man that you could meet. Everyone who knew him, loved his smile, his wit and respected the fact that if you needed him, he would be there, no questions asked. His love for his family was proof positive that they were first and foremost and they also knew they could always count on Guido.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to his Uncle and Aunt, Angelo and Rosetta Guirlando, UW Hospital, Mylan Institute and everyone that came to the hospital the day of his passing to show their support. Without your generosity and graciousness in Lennys times of need, the family would have been at a true loss. It was the collaboration of all of you who helped him get through these past few years and for that, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
The family is also grateful that Lenny had received the gift of life through a kidney transplant a few years ago and because of that, through his death nbsp;he has now given the gift of life back to another.
Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Terry Guirlando; son, Matt Guirlando; mother, Lena Guirlando; adopted son, Erik Boozell; brother/sisterinlaw, Robert (Suzi) Henneberry and nephews, John, Jeff, and James Guirlando. Preceded in death by his Father, brother, Michael Gonzo, nephew, Jasper Jay Guirlando and niece, Amy Henneberry.
Memorial service Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 12 p.m. (Noon) at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with a visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials in his name to: UW Transplant Program, 600 Highland Ave F8/157, Madison, WI 53792.
