Lee F. Magnuson

February 24, 1926 — December 23, 2008

Lee F. Magnuson, 82, Rockford, died Tuesday, December 23, 2008, in Nelson Debes Subacute Complex, surrounded by his loving family, following a short battle with cancer.  He was born February 24, 1926, in Stillman Valley. The son of Harry L. and Myrtle (Quist) Magnuson.  Married Barbara B. Landgraf in Rockford on May 27, 1967.  Lee was a project manager at Rockford Memorial Hospital for many years.  He served in the Merchant Marines and later in the Army during the Korean Conflict.  Lee was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.  He loved spending his winters in Florida. Survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Debbie (Gordon) Petersen and her family; cousins, Helen Magnuson, Rockford, Eleanor (Jim ) Burke, Spring Valley, CA and Margaret Carlson, Arlington Heights; sister-in-law, Elisabeth Landgraf and niece, Eva Maria Roop, both of Germany; brother-in-law, Walter (Barbara) Landgraf and sister-in-law, Liesel Landgraf,  both of Rockford; nieces, Vicki (John) Downs, Kathy (Jim) Leach, Debbie (Rudy) Robles, Maria (Frank) Roy, Jr., Linda Pulver, and Barbara (Terry) Sandage; nephews, Mike (Jill) Landgraf and Gordon (Ann) Wenziker.  Special thanks to his niece, Debbie Robles and his cousin, Helen Magnuson. Predeceased by his parents. Special thanks to Dr. Mark Schneider and nurses Peggy and Margaret and also a big thanks to Dr. Kent Hoskins, nurse Penny and the staff at OSF Center for Cancer Care. Funeral Mass will be 10:00am, Monday, December 29, 2008, in Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd, Rockford, IL 61107 with Monsignor Thomas Bales officiating.  Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Visitation from 9am until service time at the church on Monday.  Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Rockton Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Av. Rockford, Il 61103.
