Lee E Adamson

Lee E. Adamson, 86, of Rockford, died Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Morning Star Village. Born March 22, 1927 in Freeport, the son of Ernest and Martha (Foy) Adamson. Lee was married to his loving wife Polly (Pauline Davies) for 60 years until her death in 2008. A tool and die maker by trade, he worked at Micro Switch, Freeport Tool and Burgess. He ended his career as a mechanical designer at Taylor Freezer and holds several patents for fast food equipment he developed from 1975 until his retirement in 1989. He and Polly spent many summers on their houseboat on the Mississippi River, at Island City Harbor Marina, Sabula, Iowa and winters in Myrtle Beach. Lee enjoyed woodworking and his family and friends will have lasting memories of his many woodworking projects. If there was a football game on, he would be avidly watching, especially if the Packers were playing. He was a kind and caring man and he will be missed dearly by those that knew him.
Survivors include his children; Susan (John) Witherspoon of Dayton, OH, Thomas (Lori) Adamson of San Antonio, TX and Patricia (David) Young of Rockford; grandchildren Daniel and Andrew Young; Krista and Kyle Adamson, Jaci Shaw and Jason Marlow; great grandchildren, Noah and Trinity Shaw and brother-in-law, Thomas Ryan of Freeport. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and four sisters.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Morning Star Village and to Northern Illinois Hospice Association. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd. with visitation from 9:30- 10:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Northern Illinois Hospice Association.
