Lawrence Arthur ""Bud"" Finnegan, 86, formerly of Rockford, IL, and more recently a resident of the State Veterans Home in Union Grove, WI, passed away March 12, 2007, after a brief illness. Born January 8, 1921, in Madison WI, the son of Dr. Bernard and Alma (Waldorf) Finnegan. He married Jeanne M. (Olsen) on June 3, 1948 in Elkhorn, WI. She died on July 21, 1992. He taught 5 years at Stoughton High School in Stoughton, WI before moving to Rockford in 1952. He taught 40 years in the Rockford Public School System, serving as Department Head both at Roosevelt Junior High until it closed and then at Wilson Middle School, until retiring in 1987. A disabled veteran of WWII, he remained extremely active. He walked two miles a day after retiring and used exercise equipment when he was no longer able to walk freely. Lawrence is survived by his son, Michael along with his grandchildren, Daniel and Katherine all of Bettendorf, IA; twin sister, Lorraine Hughes of Richland Center, WI. Predeceased by parents; sister and brother-in-law; Bernadette ""Bonnie"" and Raymond Miller and brother-in-law, William Hughes Sr. . Funeral Mass at 10:00 am, Saturday, March 17, 2007, in St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave., Rockford, IL, 61103, with Father Kenneth Stachyra officiating. Interment and Military Honors at 1:00 pm, Saturday in Resurrection Cemetery, 2705 Regent St., Madison, WI, 53705. Visitation from 9:00 to 10:00 am, prior to service at the church.
