Rockford: LaVergne Margaret LePere, 96, of Rockford passed away peacefully and was placed in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Friday, October 24, 2014 in Onalaska, Wisconsin. LaVergne was born in Chicago on October 17, 1918 to Walter and Helga (Carlson) Yeager. LaVergne graduated from Harrison High School in Chicago in June of 1937. She married W. Leland LePere on May 2, 1942 in Chicago. LaVergne was a devoted member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Rockford.
Survivors include her daughters, Thea (Forrest) Carlson and Julie (Rev. Mark) Gilbert; grandchildren, Jennifer Anderson, Dana and Jason Carlson, Jared, Nathan and Benjamin Gilbert; great-grandchildren, Mitchell and Leah Anderson, Natalie, Lauren and William Carlson and Alexander Ulage. Predeceased by her husband, W. Leland LePere; mother, Helga Olson and father, Gustav Olson.
Memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 3300 Rural Street, with Pastor Jeff Fricke officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 1 from 1:30 p.m. until time of service Saturday at the church. Fitzgerald Funeral & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL is assisting the family.
