Laura Wald Horn, 97 Laura Horn, 97, Rockford went to be with the Lord on July 4, 2010 with her family at her side. She was born in Slater, Iowa to Judge Severn and Minnie (Johnson) Wald on August 11, 1912. Laura was married to Frederick M. Horn in 1935, moved to Rockford and lived here the rest of her life. Laura was employed by D.J. Stewart and as a teller at various banks in Rockford. She was very active at Central Christian Church (member for 75 years) and sang in the choir for many years. She also volunteered for the Rockford Police Chaplains Division. A special thank you to St. Anne Nursing Home, OSF St. Anthony-300 East, OSF Hospice, Pat Riggins and Mary Norman for their loving care. Survivors include her daughter, Sharon (Nicholas) Salamone of Virginia Beach, VA; son James (Mary) Horn, Rockford, two grandchildren, Nicholas (Janet) Salamone, Noel (Raymond) LaMendola, three great-grandchildren, Hailey and Kelley Salamone and Rachel LaMendola of Virginia Beach, VA. Laura was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Curtis, Lowell and Roscoe and two sisters, Melba and Bonnie. Services will be at Central Christian Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 9, 2010 with Pastor Steve Doyle of Calvary Christian Church officiating. Visitation from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 8 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. and from 10am until time of the service at the church on Friday.
