Larry D. Newman

Larry Newman, 77, Rockford, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025. He was born December 19, 1947 in Lincoln, IL, the son of Robert and Madge. Larry married Deborah Newman in Chicago on October 19, 1974. He was a graduate of Illinois State University. Moving to Rockford and starting his family, he attended St. Bridget Catholic Church where his sons attended school. Larry was a teacher at Eisenhower Middle School, Lincoln Middle School, and East High School. He later spent many years teaching at Boylan High School, and was the head golf coach, where he won the boy's state championship in 2002. When he was young, he worked for the State of Illinois in Chicago. Larry was a lifelong golfer, and also loved fishing. 

Survived by his 4 sons, John Newman of New York City, Charles Newman (Fiancee Aurelia Raicu) of Chicago, David (Fiancee, Roberta Monigold) Newman of Machesney Park, and James Newman of Roscoe; his grandchildren, Lucas, Max, Mason and Savanna Newman. Predeceased by his parents, Robert and Madge, and his brother, Steve. 

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Friday, March 21, 2025, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd, Rockford, 61108. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd, Rockford, IL 61107. Cremation rites will be accorded following his services.
