Larry E. Hood

Larry E. Hood, 81, of Cherry Valley, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024.

Larry was born in Monroe, Michigan on January 3, 1943, the son of Lloyd and Rosemary (Nadeau) Hood. He graduated from Airport High School and went on to complete his 4-year apprenticeship for tool and die maker. Larry was employed for 38.5 dedicated years with General Motors before retiring. He married Ruth A. Montoya on August 11, 1969, in Flat Rock, Michigan. 

Larry enjoyed spending his time traveling to the NHRA drag racing events held in Indianapolis every year and watching NFL and college football, cheering on his favorite team, the Miami Hurricanes. He also had a passion for taking excellent care of his yard and garden as well as spending quality time with his beloved dogs, Jimmy and BJ. Most of all, Larry enjoyed spending time with his family, especially traveling to attend his granddaughter’s volleyball games as often as he could. He will be dearly missed.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Ruth Hood; granddaughters, Raven and Carmen; brother, Lloyd (Susan) Hood; in-laws, Linda Ruefer, Cecil (Janice) Montoya, Michael (Cindy) Montoya, Ricardo (Connie) Montalvo, Joseph (Marie) Montalvo, and Anthony (Ritajean) Montalvo. Larry is predeceased by his parents, son, Jason Hood and his brother, Rob Hood. 

In honor of Larry’s wishes, no services will be held at this time. The final resting place will be in Michigan at a later date.
