Larry C. Griesman, 73, of Loves Park, IL passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by those he loved. Larry was born December 7, 1951, in Beloit, Wisconsin, the son to Walter and Marian (Newkirk) Griesman. Larry attended Beloit Memorial High School, class of 1970. Larry graduated from Beloit Memorial Hospital school of radiography and went on to obtain his Bachelor of Arts from Concordia University in 2002. On August 20th, 1977, Larry married the love of his life, Patricia Boland. They went on to have two children, Lindsey, and T.J. Larry was the Radiology manager at Rockford Memorial Hospital and gave many people their first jobs and opportunities in radiography, retiring after 40 years. He was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church and sang in the guitar choir. Larry was an avid bowler and was a Wisconsin State Bowling Champion and inducted into the Beloit Bowling Hall of Fame in 2005. He also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Cubs. Larry coached many of his children’s sports teams in their younger years. He also spent his time volunteering at many Boylan games. Most of all, Larry cherished the time spent with his four grandchildren and watching their various events. Larry enjoyed his time at Lake Mills and his Lake Mills family. Larry was a dedicated family man that never took his family and friends for granted. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
Larry is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Lindsey (Scott) Dornbush and T.J. (Michelle) Griesman; his beloved grandchildren, Taylor and Riley Dornbush, and Colin and Annika Griesman; sister, Pat Turner; brothers and sisters in law, Maureen (Tom) Fitzgerald, Mike (Jessie Mancillas) Boland, Kate (Steve) McLeese; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents, Walter and Marian Griesman and sister, Judy McCawley.
The family wishes to thank the caring and compassionate staff at Mercy Health Hospice.
Memorial Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2025, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave, Rockford, IL 61103. Visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2025, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. and 9:00 – 10:00 Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Church. Cremation rites accorded with Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boylan Catholic High School.
