Larry A. Garibaldi

Lawrence A. “Larry” Garibaldi, 94, of Belvidere, passed away December 22, 2017 at Maple Crest Care Center. Born January 31, 1923, in Chicago, the son of Thomas A. & Katherine M. (McAndrew) Garibaldi. Served in U.S. Navy during WWII. Married his beloved wife of 58 years, Mary Beth Journy, on October 15, 1959 in Evanston, IL.
Larry was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. He enjoyed model yachting and won numerous trophies with his boat “Sentimental Journy”, He was honored to serve as the Commodore of the Chicago Model Yachting Chapter. Member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Survivors include wife, Mary Beth; sons, Anthony and Daniel Garibaldi; grandchildren Cassandra, Elizabeth and Angelina; brother Tom (Carol) Garibaldi and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, John, Bill and Jim Garibaldi; sister and brother in laws Marjorie and James Journy; nephew Martin Journy.
Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd, Rockford, IL. Visitation from 9:30 until time of mass at church. Private burial at Calvary Cemetery, Evanston, IL. Memorial to the family for a memorial to be establish at a later date. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S.
