Laima Kinderis, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, August 25th at Cherryvale Place in Rockford, IL.
Laima was born on September 22, 1937 in Lithuania to the late Jonas and Marija Kvietkauskas. She spent her early childhood in Lithuania and immigrated to the United States in 1949. On January 30, 1960 she married Raimundas Kinderis. Laima was a homemaker for many years, then went into real estate when the family moved from Chicago to Crystal Lake, IL.
Laima loved nothing more than going camping, reading a book, having a Manhattan, and playing Jahtzee or Rhumikub. She had many interests, and often took classes to learn more about them. She learned to colorize black and white photos, flower arranging and drafting just to name a few. She loved pressing flowers and turning them into beautiful pictures.
Laima will be deeply missed by her children, Donna (James) Cronce and Paul (Rebecca) Kinderis; her grandchildren, Ian, Amanda (Louis) Roper and Ben; her great grandchildren, Ryland, Morrighan and Willow; nephew, Joe (Diana) Shafer and niece, Kate Shafer. She is survived by her sister, Marika Shafer.
In addition to her husband, Ray, Laima was preceded in death by her sisters, Aldona Uzdavinys and Vida Holswade.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Cherryvale Place and Mercy Hospice for the loving and compassionate care they gave to Laima.
Due to current health restrictions, a private service will be held. Please pour yourselves a Manhattan and toast Laima. Mom will definitely be having hers with Dad.
Arrangements entrusted to Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108.
