Freeport-- M. Lafreda (McCoy) Pravidica, 89, of Rockford passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2015 in Freeport. Born on January 12, 1925, in Exline, IA. Daughter of Grant R. and Violet (Deahl) McCoy. Moved to Rockford from Iowa in 1945. Attended High School in Exline, IA, and continued her education at Kirksville State Teacher’s College and AIC Business College. She was a teacher in Appanoose County, IA, St. Edward School, St. Bridget School and St. James School in Rockford, IL. Lafreda was a Member of ST. Edward’s Womens club where she hosted senior tours, served on various committees and did volunteer work. In 2000, she was named Rockford Deanery Council of Catholic Women, Woman of the Year. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.
Survived by sons; Dennis (Colleen) Pravidica and Martin (Susan) Pravidica. Grandchildren; Denise Higgins, Danette (Dan) Godfrey, and Eric (Kelsey) Pravidica. Great-Grandchildren; Nora and Eamon Higgins, Jake, Cade and Brynne Godfrey and Kamryn Pravidica. sister; Vivian and brother Johnny McCoy. Several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents and sister Evelyn Rockhold and Lois McCoy.
Funeral Mass 10:30 am Saturday, December 6, 2014 at St. Edward Catholic Church 3004 11th Street, Rockford, Il 61109 with Fr. William Vallejo officiating. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
