Lacy A. Sciame

Lacy A. Sciame was born on July 31, 1926, and passed away at home January 25, 2024. He didn’t know it then, but he would change the world.

A World War II veteran, a letter carrier, a previous officer of the Rockford Postal Credit Union, a Union representative, a Cubs fan, a bowler, a pool player, a retired YMCA Men’s Club member, a father, a grandfather, a great grandfather, and most importantly, a husband to his loving wife Florence for 68 years who welcomed him into heaven with open arms. We know they are laughing and dancing together.

He is survived by his five children and their spouses, Fran (Randy) Stretz, Susan (Dan) Giesecke, Marilyn (Chris) Hoffie, Vince (Lori) Sciame, and Vicky (Tom) Pruitt. His 14 grandchildren, Heidi, Peter (Kelly), Erica (Chris), Lindsey (Mickey), Lauren (Josh), Michael (Anna), Joe (Mari), Ally, A.J., Allison (Anthony), Andria (Jarred), Mackenzie, Delaney (Brock), and Elizabeth (Mat). His great grandchildren, Logan, Lucas, C.J., Lili, Samantha, Jackson, Kennedy, Cameron, Bennett Daxton, and Deklan. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Carol Sciame, several nieces, nephews, and all of his friends that he made at the YMCA Retired Men’s club.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence; his parents Vincent and Frances Sciame; his two brothers, Tony (Evelyn) and Carl, and his sister Dorothy (Paul).

He was loved, admired, and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass, 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave., Rockford, Illinois 61103.
