Kevin Johnson

Rev. Kevin Sigurd Johnson, 58, of Rockford passed away Wednesday May 29, 2013 at Asta Care. He was born February 28, 1955 in Rockford, the son of Carl and Theda Johnson. Graduate of Guilford High School, class of 1973. During his high school years, was a member of the local rock band Flight. Kevin received his Bachelor's Degree in Theology from International Seminary, and was also a graduate of Blackhawk College, He founded and was the President of the Institute for Christian Apologetics and its division, Mount Carmel Outreach, in Stockton, IL. Kevin was an ordained Evangelical Minister, who taught believers how to better defend their faith both in person and through his radio program, Perspective Underground, which was aired on multiple Christian radio stations throughout the area. A member of First Evangelical Free Church.

Survivors include his six children, Travis (Amanda), Joshua (Rachel), Caleb (Jaci), Ethan, Daniel and Katherine Johnson. Grandchildren, Noah, Lucas and Jaydran. Three sisters, Joy (Glen) Rittmeyer, Carol (Sevrin) Strote and Sylvia Jackalone. Numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents.

Funeral service at 1pm Monday June 3, 2013 in First Evangelical Free Church 2223 N Mulford Rd Rockford, IL 61107. With burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Visitation from 10am until 12:45 Monday in the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you please send donations to assist with funeral expenses.
