Kenneth Schultz, 87 of Rockford died Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Liberty Village in Freeport. Born Feb. 21, 1929 in Chicago, the son of Louis and Catherine (Chapleski) Schultz. Married his first wife Virginia McHugh on June 10, 1950, she preceded him in death in April of 1962 and later married his second wife, Florence Stoesser on August 17, 1963 in Chicago. A longtime resident of Glen Ellyn he most recently worked for Globe Battery as a transportation manager for over 15 years before he retired to enjoy a few of his hobbies. They included bowling, traveling in with his camper and camping at various campsites throughout the Midwest, spending time with family and sharing his enthusiasm with others for Model HO Trains. He was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus, council 470 and a 4th degree serving in the Bishop Muldoon Assembly 190 and was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church where he served as an usher. He was a hardworking, kind hearted and loving man who will be missed dearly by his family and many friends.
Survivors include his wife, Florence; children, Kenneth (Susan) Schultz, Chrisa (Jim) Matheson and Dorathy (Carl) White; grandchildren, Adam (Tonya) Schultz, Ashley Schultz, Terri (George Sirois) Matheson, Peter Matheson, Mitchell (Sabrina) White, Jared White and Ian White. Preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Virginia and grandson, John Matheson.
Funeral Mass Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4405 Highcrest Rd. Visitation Monday, April 25, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Cemetery Chapel in River Grove, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association ,Greater Illinois Chapter
