Kenneth ?Ken Earnest, 79, of Rockford, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2008. He was born February 9, 1928 in Freeport, IL; the son of Harry and Anne Earnest. Ken was a professional car salesman from 1953 until 1993 for several local dealerships before opening his own car lot. Automobile racing of all types was a passion. He enjoyed powerful cars and was on the ground floor of the muscle car era selling some of the areas first Road Runners, GTX and GS Stage 1. He also had a passion for jazz and live music. Many thanks to the Drs, nurses and staff at Rockford Memorial Hospital especially, Dr. Michael Werkle, Dr. James Koepsell, Dr. Dennis Kellar and Dr. Charles Sweeney for their patience and care. Survivors include his sons, Morris (Carol) and Lindsay (Debbie daughter, Mari (Gerald) Hanson; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild; brother, William (Fairy sister, Mavis (Richard) Clark; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his first wife, Beatrice and brother, Harold. A memorial service will be held at 6:00pm on Monday, February 4, 2008 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, ILnbsp; 61108 with Rev. Dick Wisdom officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 6pm Monday before the service. Cremation rites have been accorded.
