Kay Marie Loftus

Kay Marie Loftus, age 77, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024, in Rockford, Illinois. She was born in Davenport, Iowa to William D. Smyser and Mary E. Jones on January 27, 1947, and was the oldest of six children. She graduated from Assumption High School in Davenport in 1965. 

She worked as a legal secretary at the Rock Island Arsenal and later at a law firm in Rockford. She later returned to complete her education at Rockford College graduating with a Bachelor degree in Psychology in 1980. She later served as a volunteer at a charitable organization. 

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Donald E. Loftus; her brother, William Smyser; and nephews, Josh (Megan) Smyser and Corey (Jennifer) Hardin. She was predeceased by both parents; her daughter, Sandra L. Loftus; her brothers, Robert Smyser, Joseph Smyser, and Thomas Smyser; and her sister, Debra Hardin.
