Kathy A. Kietzmann

Kathleen A. Kietzmann, 71, of Rockford, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017. She was born on January 8, 1946, in Rockford; to parents, Leo and Alice (Nelson) Love. Kathy was a 1964 graduate of Stillman Valley High School, and she went on to marry her loving and devoted husband, Elmer Kietzmann, on May 18, 1974, at the Davis Junction United Methodist Church. She owned and operated her own home child daycare for 25 years, and worked for Target for 12 years. Kathy enjoyed word search games to keep her mind sharp, she loved the Chicago Bears, her “dog” Sassy, and most importantly, she loved her family. Kathy always looked forward to her time with her Pot Luck Girls group which included friends, Sue Baxter, Barb Sasse, Shirley Johnson, Sue Beaver, Judy Welty, and Pam Bolen. Her family and friends are grateful to have shared love, laughter, and a lifetime with Kathy.

She is survived by her husband, Elmer Kietzmann; children, Dianna (Scott) Burgess, Kenny (Gina) Kietzmann, Jerry (Terry) Swick, Duane (Lila) Swick, Dawn (Kerry) Kolenda, and Khristine (Bill) Horkheimer; 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; siblings, Carol Bullock, Doug (Carol) Love, and Bruce (Marge) Love; soul sister, Karin Bernier, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She is predeceased by her parents; and siblings, Janet Lundberg and Richard Love.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Christ United Methodist Church, 4509 Highcrest Rd., Rockford, IL, 61107. A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL, 61108.
