Kathryn E. Betts

Kathryn E. Betts, 85, a resident of Rockford, went to be with the Lord on August 30, 2010 in the comfort of her family. Kathryn was born November 24, 1924 in Riceville, Iowa the daughter of Harry and Kathryn (Hogan) Smith. She came to Rockford in 1953. Kathryn married Clarence Betts on June 14, 1941 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Kathryn worked at Barber Coleman for 28 years. Kathryn loved to read and do crossword puzzles. She was especially close to her great granddaughter, Clare. The family wishes to acknowledge the love and support of all her many friends at the Luther Center. Kathryns quality of life was greatly enhanced, thanks to her granddaughter, Marcie Kathryn is survived by her; children, Donald (Dahna) Betts, Barry (Nancy Lindquist) Betts, Pat Betts, and Carole (Michael) Lester; grandchildren, Brian McCaslin, Melissa Saelens, Michelle Williams, Jessica (David) Estrada, Julie (Michael) Piskulla, Patrick Betts, Sarah Betts, Mary Turner, and Marcie Turner; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Seth Saelens, Daniel McCaslin, Travis Lane, Lucas Betts, and Clare Turner and sister Harriet Picht. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, Clarence in 2009; daughter, Mary McCaslin; grandson, Howie McCaslin; sisters, Marguerite DeHuff, Dorothy Kamper and Rita Perrin. Memorial Mass 10 am Friday, September 3, 2010 at Holy Family Catholic Church 4407 Highcrest with Father William R. Wentink officiating. Visitation from 9 am until 9:45 Saturday at church.
