Kathie Waldron

Kathie L. Waldron, 66, Rockford, died Saturday, September 21, 2013 in Amberwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born March 25, 1947, in Sycamore, daughter of Russell and Barbara Wilson Straup. Graduated from Sycamore High School with honors in 1965 and Rockford Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She lived and worked in DeKalb before moving to Rockford, where she was employed at Swedish American Hospital in the ICU and CCU. She loved her nursing profession and was dedicated to taking care of others. Kathie was a member of Headliners, affiliated with the Brain Injury Association. Survivors include her daughter, Barb (Jeff) Erdmier; son, Mike (Danielle) Schmidt; daughter; Shayne (Nate Shackelford) Waldron; 9 grandchildren; sister, JoAnne (Frank) Preas and 2 nieces. Predeceased by her parents. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 4, in Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. with the Rev. William R. Wentink officiating. A time of visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of the service.
