Katherine M. Johnson, 84, Rockford, died at 10:40 a.m.. Tuesday, May 18, 2010 in River Bluff Nursing Home.nbsp; Born April 15, 1926 in Rockford, daughter of John and Ruth Bladstrom.nbsp; Married Gilbert G. Johnson in Rockford on February 16, 1946.nbsp; She worked in the meat department at Hilander Foods on South Alpine Rd. for 18 years, retiring in 1988.nbsp; Member of Trinity Lutheran Church.nbsp; Grandma Kats was a hard worker who was an excellent cook, baker and she loved to bar-be-que.nbsp; Some of her specialities, that none of us will ever forget, are the many cookies that she baked, wonderful soups, Swedish pancakes and reuben sandwiches.nbsp; Her most precious times were spent with her family, who she loved above all else.nbsp;



Survivors include her son, Scott (Kathie) Johnson; grandsons, Brett (Louise) Johnson and Chad Johnson; granddaughters, Tanya, Sarah Johnson, Heidi Johnson, Nicole Johnson; 5 great-grandchildren and her special friend, Hellen Midget Heimert.nbsp; Predeceased by her husband Gilbert G. Johnson, son, Randall G. Johnson and brother, Roger Bladstrom.Her family would like to thank the staff of River Bluff Nursing Home, especially Meghan and the staff of Northern Illinois Hospice amp; Grief Center.



Funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2010 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with Rev. Cindy Marino officiating.nbsp; Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery.nbsp; Visitation from 6-8 p.m. Friday and from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service on Saturday.nbsp; Memorials may be made to the family.nbsp; Express condolences and share memories at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
