Karla D. Blaising

Karla D. Blaising, 65, of Rockford, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2014 at Swedish American Hospital after a brief illness. She was born on Dec. 12, 1948 in Soda Springs, Idaho, the daughter of Donald and Cheryl Longenbohn. Married her loving husband, Lewis Blaising on Sept. 19, 1997 in Madison, WI. Karla worked for 30 years at Stenstrom Industries as their corporate secretary and sadly had to retire in 2008. She was a lover of animals and had a green thumb for flowers, tomatoes and cucumbers. She was a fun loving, kind and caring person who will be missed dearly by all. The family wishes to thank the staff at both Swedish American Hospital and to Alden Debis for their professional yet compassionate care they gave to Karla and her family.
Survivors include her husband of 17 years, Lewis Blaising of Rockford; daughter, Toni Spann of Sun Prairie WI; son, Clint (Cassie) Smith of Madison, WI; grandchildren, Kyla and Zavien Spann and Sada Smith; 6 step children and 15 step grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial service Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd, with Pastor Bill Dahlberg of Salem Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials in her name to Salem Lutheran Church, 1629 S. Sixth St. Rockford, IL 61104.
